Our Services

A Routine Visit

This is for routine issues 15 minutes and under.

A Long Appointment

If you have complex or multiple issues to discuss with your doctor, we would suggest that you book a longer appointment. Please advise reception of this when making your appointment so that we can allocate more time for you.

Chronic Disease Management

Our Care Plans are organised through a Nurse led program, which is focused on providing a better service, with less waiting time and more thorough care.

The Care Plan program can assist patients to access Allied Health services at a subsidised rate, which reduces some of the financial burden experienced by patients with complex health care needs.

Regular check-ups have been proven to help achieve better outcomes, manage chronic conditions and reduce complications.

Our Care Plan Nurses will conduct a detailed assessment of your health care needs via a telephone appointment. Your care needs will be discussed and any appropriate allied health referrals can be made.
Your regular doctor will then have a separate appointment with you at the medical centre to confirm the care plan requirements and ensure that all aspects of you care are discussed.

Follow up reviews of your Care Plan will be arranged to ensure health care goals are achieved and support is provided when it is needed the most.

Treatment Room/Practice Nurses

In our well-equipped treatment rooms, our Registered Nurses perform many duties including triage, INR collection and analysis, wound care, minor surgical procedures, accident and emergency treatments, immunisation and travel vaccinations (after first consulting with your GP).

Minor Operations

Minor procedures and operations are available to patients of Surfcoast Medical Centre. These include Implanon and IUD insertion/removal, suture of lacerations, skin biopsies and minor lesion removal as well as the treatment of undisplaced fractures.

Please note: Surfcoast Medical Centre is not an Emergency Centre and for medical emergencies you should call 000 for an ambulance or proceed to the closest hospital emergency department.

After Hours Medical Care

Surfcoast Medical Centre provides an after hours service to our patients via the National Home Doctor service. When our phones turn off for the day, we have a recording that informs our patients of our opening hours and that if they require an after hours appointment to call the National Home Doctor Service on 13 74 25 (13SICK).

For medical emergencies, please call 000 to request an ambulance or present to the nearest hospital emergency department – Geelong University Hospital, Epworth Hospital or St John of God Hospital.

After Hours Clinics

Saturday mornings appointments are available 9.00am – 12 noon.

These clinics are for semi urgent appointments that can only be booked on the day over the phone with our reception team.

These appointments are not for Care Plans, Procedures or Immunisations. We will only have one doctor rostered on for these sessions, with no nurse available.
