Telehealth was introduced for everyone at the start of the pandemic to protect staff, Doctors and patients by reducing the need for unwell patients to attend the practice.
The legislation has now changed in that we can only book telehealth appointments for patients who have been seen face-to-face in the past 12 months and bulkbilling patients for telehealth appointments is no longer mandatory.
Our practice has made a decision to only book telehealth appointments for patients who require a repeat script, repeat referral or if the Doctor has requested this option for results. We have also decided that from Monday 30/11, there will be an out of pocket fee for telehealth if you do not have a pension or government issued health care card.
As with all billing it will be up to the Doctors discretion and they will discuss their billing plans at the start of your consult. Please expect to be billed $55 for a telehealth appointment (if you do not fall into the category above), for which you will receive a Medicare rebate of $38.75.
